Why should I be limited to traditional wedding shoes?

Well, the latest trend has been for the bride to wear colored shoes. Being a pink fiend, I have opted to jump on the bandwagon, which gives me a perfect reason to wear a beautiful pink shoe. I just got my order in the mail and I love them! DSW is the bomb as usual. Gorgeous shoe, but of course they won't be comfortable all night, so I'm going to order a flip flop similar to the one pictured from Victoria Secret for the ceremony (in pink of course). Especially since we will more than likely be standing in the sand, the heel shoe just won't do. The stiletto is 4 inches, which will make me slightly taller than Mike for our first dance; I'm going to try to find a reputable shoe repair shop in my area that can take the heel down an inch without compromising the look of the shoe.
I can't wait to strut my stuff in dem bad boys!

Engagement pictures!

http://www.photobiz.com/slideshowbiz/slideshow.cfm?slideshowID=27032&photographerID=2101

Taken by the fabulous Nikki Hartman, http://www.blogger.com/www.artbynikki.com. I am very happy with how they turned out. I had my make-up done by Iris, who uses Mary Kay products. This was a make-up trial for me to see if I wanted to use her for my wedding day photos. I am definitely booking her! I also got my eyelash extensions, manicure and pedicure done at TD Nails on W. Colonial Dr. off Kirkman Blvd. I love the way my eyelashes look. Mike also got a mani/pedi there and he thought they did a great job too.

On the other hand, both Mike and I are working to lose some more weight before the wedding. I think part of me really liking these pictures has to do with the fact at the time we took them I was 30 pounds lighter that I was a year ago, thus I felt sexy and confident. I think these pictures will be our "before" and the wedding pics will be "after" photos.

Off to the gym I go.....

Bridesmaids Dresses

I am happy to report that finally bridesmaids dresses and colors have been agreed upon! The top picture is what I had envisoned but two of the girls weren't too keen on wearing the "really bright pink". I brought Mike along with me to the salon to meet with them a couple of weeks ago, and guess what? Mike loved the pink. So, I'm thinking, pink it is. Then Maria, who helped me with my dress, asked Mike what the guys were wearing and after he told her she came up with the gorgeous combo of champagne dresses with expresso trim. I love it! He loved it! So it is. The dress to my left is just to give you an idea of the color but the girls actually liked the separates, pictured above. So each girl will wear the same bottom but different tops in champagne with expresso trim. One of my girls, Mary picked the top pictured above.
All but two girls have been in to the shops to get measured and leave their deposits so we'll see what happens by the deadline August 29, 2008.
Let me just add something: I get some flack from people when I tell them I changed my bridesmaid dress colors. Everyone that knows me knows I am a pink fiend. Yes, I love it but not many others do. That being said, it is my wedding but I don't want uncomfortable and irritable bridesmaids standing next to me because they are unhappy in what they are wearing. I let them pick what they wanted to wear in the color of my choice. Hell, they're paying for it, not me so why not try to compromise? Believe me if I really wanted pink that's what it would have been and the girls would have purchased it, but not with a smile I'm sure. :)
Either way, I am truly happy with the new bridesmaids color scheme and I think it will look amazing with the hot pink flowers they will carry.
I think shoes and jewelry will be the same concept: I will give them a color for the shoes and let them wear whatever jewelry they please. I am not into that matchy-matchy thing so it doesn't bother me if everyone has different looks. They are individuals with style and I want that to show.

Welcome!

I should have started this so long ago, but better late than never. We are officially under 180 days to the wedding so the countdown begins! I don't know where to start, so much has happened and it will take me forever to try to catch up. Let's see: all of our major vendors are booked except the DJ, we took our engagement pics 3 weeks ago and I'm dying to see what they look like. I'm trying not to be a PITA, but I'm going to have to email the photographer soon if I don't hear from her. I know she went on vacation but it still shouldn't take this long to get the photos.

On another note, it's definitely time to hit the gym full speed. I still have some unwanted pounds and areas that need to be toned before the wedding day. So far, I've lost 30 pounds and been able to keep it off, for the most part. I plan to hit the gym at least 4-5 days a week, weight train, and do cardio, more than likely running for the next 3 months. I'm trying to find a workout online that interests me. Either way, today is the day I get serious because 6 months is going to fly by and I will be pissed if I wasted time and didn't lose any more weight or tone up like I want.

I'm on my way out the door now. Peace!
